Traherne, Thomas
(1637, Hereford, Inglaterra–1674, Teddington).

Poeta místico y escritor religioso inglés. Fue ordenado clérigo de la iglesia anglicana en 1660. Durante siglos se desconocía la existencia de la mayor parte de su obra. En 1896, el descubrimiento en un tenderete callejero de Londres de los manuscritos de sus Poetical Works [Obras poéticas] (1903) y de su obra en prosa Centuries of Meditations [Siglos de meditaciones] (1908) causó sensación en los círculos literarios. Con posterioridad se descubrió en el Museo Británico el manuscrito de Poems of Felicity [Poemas de felicidad] (1910). La poesía de Traherne, aunque intensa y original en ocasiones, es menos conocida que su prosa, apreciada por la brillantez de su estilo.
